Shortly after a successful public bid, Southside began the additions and renovations to South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities located in Greenville, SC. Designed by McMillan Smith and Partners Architects, this project includes:
Two separate five-story 17,000 SF additions to the existing residence hall for apartment style living space. The buildings consist of steel structures with decorative concrete block, brick veneer and steel roof trusses and asphalt shingle. Suspended concrete slabs at each floor with exposed metal decking for the interior ceilings below each slab. Interior finishes to match existing including carpet, tile and acoustical ceilings. Tie-in of new mechanical/ electrical/plumbing and fire protection systems to existing as well.
Two separate one-story additions to the existing residence hall for a student lounge and teachers office area consisting of a metal stud structure with decorative concrete block, brick veneer and a new flat roof system tied into the existing.
Interior renovations of the existing residence hall include the conversion of the 9,000 SF study/activity/meeting space.
Exterior and interior demolition and modification are also included, especially for the existing doors and hardware including access controls for on-site monitoring.
